Being a Part of History

When I first heard that Mr Lee Kuan Yew has passed on, it was via a group chat - my friends were getting annoyed that they had to postpone their event and earning lesser commission because of the week long mourning. And it made my heart heavier than it already was. We can't time death and we should be respectful of the dead. Thus I was disappointed at how many people are thinking that way.

Anyways, on the first day of the public wake, J and I went to queue to pay our last respect during lunch. Little did we know that we had to queue about 5 hours and had a bad sun-burn but we were really glad that we did it. And we would like to thank the nice people who gave out cold drinks and water to quench our thirst! :D

The queue started extending to Fort Canning.

For me, the week long mourning brought about new insights on Mr Lee's life and Singapore's history. And I really hope that we can always be grateful for what we have and have lesser complains. And most importantly, strive to be a better nation together.

To end off this post, here's what I would love to say to Mr Lee:
Sir,
Thank you for having a vision so great.
Thank you for your endless contribution and love to the nation.
Thank you for standing strong for Singapore despite many setbacks.
Thank you for transforming the country from 3rd world to 1st world.
Thank you for building such a strong international platform for us.
Thank you for all the work that you and your people have done to create such a beautiful country.
Thank you for creating a nation for us and future generations.
Thank you for touching me with your love story and aspiring me to have a love like yours.
We are sadden by your departure but we take solace that you are in a better place right now with your wife.
RIP Sir!

Last but not least, I am proud to be a Singaporean and part of a unique culture :)
I ♥ my country!

Sanum is the way to go!

I was first introduced to Llao Llao in January and I fell in love with it! And I brought J to try it too and he has been craving for it ever since hahaha.

Llao llao first started in Spain and it's pronounced as 'yao yao'.

We loveee Sanum (one of their yoghurt series) because of the crunch, it is priced at S$6.50. Sanum consists of yoghurt with a choice of 3 different types of fruits, 1 choice of crunch and 1 sauce. The fruits will make you have the perception that you are eating something healthy :p

Here are the Sanum combinations that I have tried:
1. Banana, mango, kiwi, dessicated coconut and dark chocolate sauce
2. Mango, rockmelon, honeydew, granola and white chocolate sauce
3. Mango, blueberries, banana, granola and dark chocolate sauce

Do try yours today, no regrets!

They just open a branch in Parkway, J was so happy because it's so near our place! :D
Our 3rd time having Llao Llao

Si Dian Jin

As mentioned previously, my parents requested for Si Dian Jin (四点金) from J's parents. So J brought me to a few goldsmith shops around Chinatown to source for something that I would like. We both felt 999 will be better than 916 in terms of value so we budgeted $3K for a whole set.

Here are the goldsmith shops that we have visited at Chinatown before finding the right one:
  • On Cheong Jewellery
  • Chung Hwa Jade & Jewellery
  • Poh Seng Jewellers
  • Bao Jewellery & Service
  • Poh Heng Jewellery
  • Kim Heng Jewellers & Goldsmiths

Most of the shops we went to only have 1 or 2 items that I like so we decided to skip them as buying all the 4 pieces of gold from the same shop will allow better discount and a proper jewellery box. So finally after walking around for awhile, I chanced upon Chip Lee Goldsmith Jewellery (Address: 1 Park Road, #01-34 People’s Park Complex).

Found something that I liked but wasn't very decisive at that point of time so we didn't get it immediately. We went back after a month to purchase it and that's when the gold prices increased!!! Heart pain and full of regrets and felt super bad because J had to spend more money! But still decided to get it, just in case the prices increase again!

I don't remember the exact price but it was about S$3,200 (I think).
P.S. Their golds are certified by Singapore Assay Office.

Honeymoon Headache

Hey guys, I'm having a major headache! Not sure where to go for our honeymoon in mid November this year. We are planning to go away for about 20 days but not sure which itinerary route we should follow. Any suggestions? Which do you think will be a better itinerary plan? SAVE ME!

J would love to see snow and the northern lights but I really do not look forward to having a bitterly cold honeymoon! But since we are still "young", we thought we should explore places that are slightly more adventurous and in the future when we do save up again, we can visit the more romantic cities.. What do you think?

Itinerary 1:
