Dad's birthday celebration at Rose Veranda

Today, we celebrated my dad's birthday at the Rose Veranda in Shangri-la Hotel. Since it is a weekday, we get to enjoy the high tea buffet from 11.30am to 6pm! I made the reservation online https://www.shangri-la.com/singapore/shangrila/dining/bars-lounges/rose-veranda/book-a-table/ to enjoy the 15% discount off total bill. I understand that some credit cards do provide such discount too but I would still recommend for all to reserve as it is usually full house no matter what day of the week it is.

If you are celebrating your birthday or someone else's, indicate it during the reservation and they will provide a complimentary mini chocolate truffle cake which tasted awesome!

Welcome tea: tasted really good

They have an extensive list of TWG tea for you to select, I think we took a good 10 minutes trying to select our teas haha, and finally, we made our choices:
  • Vanilla Bourbon Tea
  • Lemon Bush Tea
  • Creme Caramel Tea
  • Life and Beauty
All tasted really good :) It is refillable too but you can select coffee instead and if I'm not wrong, it should be refillable.

Cooked food section
The laksa gravy was so lemak! Mmmm delish!
Laksa station
My favourite cheese and sashimi sections! Since the chiller for the sushi and sashimi was too cold, the rice was slightly too hard and dry for me. But the fresh sashimi makes up for it, ate more than 20 slices *satisfying*

And I loveeee my blue cheese! Makes me so happy to see it!

Accidentally poured too much soy sauce :s
The service staff also went around serving some specials: the soup of the day and the dessert at the bottom, I think it's raspberry sorbet with yuzu jelly.

DESSERT CORNER! They have an assorted array of desserts- fondue, ice creams, macaroons, nonya kuehs, bread pudding, puffs, chocolate and cheese cakes, and many more!

Verdict: Given that it was a high tea buffet, I think they deserve 4stars for their range especially the desserts. Despite reading some of the negative reviews, I personally feel that their quality wasn't too bad and on average the food still tasted great. Service staff were polite and pretty prompt given that it was full house that day. In addition, the price was really worth it, especially when we were there from 12.30 to 5.30pm and we were given a complimentary birthday cake :)
