Craving for Japanese Food

Celebrated our 6th year anniversary last week, and we decided to have my favourite Japanese food. Checked in at Sushi Tei (Tampines) at 8pm after queuing for half and hour. We ordered lots of salmon dishes :D

1. Salmon Sashimi (S$8.80)
Super fresh! How I wish it's a salmon sashimi buffet haha..

2. Salmon Oyako Roll (S$11.80)
Combination of melt-in-the-mouth salmon aburi and crispy soft shell crab, yummy!!

3. Garlic rice (S$8.80)
A common dish in all Japanese restaurant, can't go wrong with this dish :)

4. Hiyashi Chuka Soba (S$12.80)
First time trying this cold dish, I would give it a 7/10. The sauce is slightly too salty for me :p

5. Salmon Mentai Yaki (S$12.80)
Love this dish, the salmon was good to perfection and I love the mentaiko sauce (but a tad salty too). Recommended to eat with white rice instead of garlic rice to neutralize the salty flavor.
Total Price: S$65.21 (inclusive of wet towels)

Sushi Tei has never fail to impress (food & service), worth every cent :D

J's Birthday Celebration

Happy 30th Birthday, baby! It was his last single-hood birthday and yet he was spending a boring day with me instead of his friends haha he's getting old..

I brought him to try Kiseki at Orchard Central, it was only about $24 per pax for lunch, very reasonable for the food spread. The sashimi were really fresh and the mussels in butter sauce were super awesome with the buttery croissant. I think I ate 4 croissants, haha luckily I didn't get into a butter coma! And I came across this special wasabi ice cream, it was super interesting and refreshing! We really enjoyed the food :)

After lunch, we walk around for abit before catching a late afternoon movie and dinner at Wild Honey. We waited for about half an hour which wasn't that bad :) It was my first @ Wild Honey and the food portions were huge!! Despite my huge appetite, I had a hard time finishing my food haha.

We ordered the Portobello Road (S$24), Mexican buritto (S$19) and 2 drinks- Wild Iced Tea (S$7) and Iced Natures Remedy (S$8). The mexican buritto was delicious and terribly spicy haha. Total bill came up to S$66.75. Totally love the ambience, very cozy, suitable place to chill after work :D

I Love Soup Broth!

Last Tuesday after a hotel site visit, we had late lunch at Soup Broth (Raffles City), I ordered a Sumo Nabe Ramen (S$11.80) and J ordered the Ginseng Chicken Noodle Soup (S$12.80). We also had a complimentary serving of red velvet cake due to some tea time special.

And OMG, both dish were awesome, although a tad salty, it was real comforting for my tummy, especially when I was down with a mild flu that day. Much love!

As for the red velvet cake... Super yums, the cake was fluffy and the cream cheese was very light with a tinge of lemony flavour.

I LOVE IT! Will be back for more! ^^

Miam Miam @ Bugis Junction

Yesterday J and I met after work, and after spending 15minutes pondering on what to have for dinner, we decided on Miam Miam!

Miam Miam is a casual Artisanal French café-restaurant that brings together a mixture of French Artisanal Cuisine & Techniques with influences derived from traditional Japanese preparation & cooking arts (extracted from Miam.sg).

Address:
Miam Miam @ Bugis Junction
200 Victoria Street, #02-14 Bugis Junction, Singapore 188021

They have another outlet at Westgate.

We ordered a squid ink risotto that was accompanied with an omelette ($17.80) and a Spaghetti topped with lobster bisque and a tiger prawn ($17.80). The squid ink risotto was super delicious but slightly oily, and sadly the portion was too tiny to fill my tummy. As for the spaghetti, it was slightly uncooked and too salty for my liking.

P.S. Do note that ice water is chargeable.

Total damage: $42

Ikoi @ Hotel Miramar

Had a sudden craving for japanese buffet, so decided to try my luck to make a reservation with Ikoi at Hotel Miramar, usually they require a reservation of at least 3 weeks as they are always fully booked. But! I was so lucky, in addition to being able to make a reservation just 1 week before, I managed to get the normal table seats instead of the counter! I don't really favour counter seats as I'm relatively short which means my legs would dangle and it would be mad uncomfortable :s

Oh ya, they do have tatami style seatings but that's only for a group of 4 or more and also depending on availability.

Address: 401 Havelock Road
Hotel Miramar Lobby, Main Wing
Singapore 169631

Tel: 6887 3788

Opening Hours (Everyday):
Lunch: 11.30am - 2.00pm
Dinner: pm - 8.00pm (1st session), 8.00pm - 10pm (2nd session)

Price:
S$38.00++ (adult), S$22.00++ (children 10yrs and below)

Their complimentary welcome dish- I think it's marinated salmon sashimi in teriyaki sauce? It tasted super good! The sashimi was super fresh! No fishy smell detected. LOVE IT!!!
This sushi looks like california roll but it tasted even better as there's sesame seeds on the surface which made it more fragrant :) It's called Futomaki.
Complimentary teapot soup and claypot porridge. The porridge is really tasty but it was too much for both of us, it made us really full :s On top of the super fresh sashimi, dishes such as shishamo and tempura are highly recommended!

Another complimentary item: salmon soup? We suspect that they try to fill our tummy with lots of soup and porridge so that we will order less sashimi hahah.

We ordered a small serving of udon, it's not too bad.
We actually ordered more than this, but we were too busy eating to take photos of all the dishes that we ordered, sorry :p

Overall verdict
The selections were great, food tasted fresh and flavourful. I read a few reviews saying that the service wasn't that good as they weren't fast enough. Thus when we are half way done with our food, we will order again so by the time we are done, the food would have arrived :) A recommended strategy so that you do not have to wait too long and get frustrated over it.

Personally, I feel that Ikoi is value for money and worth a try :) Do let me know your verdict.

Till next time, PetiteFreckles ♥

Birthday Celebration with Parents

Hi Guys!
Recently I went for dinner with my parents at Parkway Parade's Ichiban Boshi. They didn't allow reservation, thus we had to wait for about 20 mins to get a table. But it was all worth it! Their service was prompt and the food's quality was awesome.

Here's what we ordered:

Potato Salad with Spicy Roe Dressing
You can't go wrong with this choice, the salad was fresh and the potatoes were mixed well with the right proportion of mayonnaise!

Salmon Sashimi

Tako Sashimi
A must have when dining in a Japanese restaurant. Both salmon and tako sashimi were fresh. What surprised me most was how the tako slices were generously big compared to those served elsewhere. It was crunchy without being chewy at all. Will definitely go back for more!

Fried Maki with Spicy Tuna
Ever tried fried maki? Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Even though it's fried, it wasn't oily and it didn't have the rancid taste at all.

Left: Sorry don't remember what it's called. Maki Right: Vegetable Maki
The vegetable maki was nothing to shout about.

Assorted Mushrooms in Clear Butter Soup
Love the combination of both mushrooms and broth but overall it was a tad too salty for me.

Spicy Set: Spicy Squid on Hot Plate, Raw Scallop with Spicy Sauce, Fried Chicken Coated with Wasabi Dressing
I love the fried chicken with wasabi dressing. The rest of the set tasted alright but I wouldn't order it again.

The total bill came up to about $85; Not too bad for a birthday dinner!

After the meal, my parents surprised me with 2 mini birthday cakes!
Perfect for my sweet tooth. :)

Mini Strawberry Sweetheart cake and Mini Tiramisu from Four Leaves
The end! Do stay tune for more updates real soon!
