Hubs 's Bday Lunch Celebration

First-time celebrating J's birthday as husband and wife. Since MIL would like to celebrate his birthday for him on the actual day in Johor, I decided to celebrate it for him in advance. After the fabulous experience at Full of Crab, I decided to bring him to Crab in da Bag @ East Coast for lunch.

 

It was a Sunday afternoon lunch time but there were no other patrons, maybe it's due to the bad haze.. At least we didn't have to wait long for our food :D

 There was a 1-for-1 promotion for the clams with Maybank card!

So yes, we went straight for it!

 

We ordered loads of food for 2:

Sweet potato fries

2Kg of Clams in Ultimate Curry Sauce

1 portion of Squid in Mum's Special sauce

1 portion of Tiger Prawns in Salty Splash sauce

1 portion of Alaskan King Crab in Caboodle Mix sauce

 

Total bill came up to about S$130.

 

We were so so so full after the meal! Forcing ourselves to finish the food haha..
Overall the food is good but personally I still prefer full of crab, the sauces tasted better.

It was J's birthday so they gave him an agar agar "cake", so nice of them :D So only had a couple of bites as we were too full!

Overall we enjoyed our meal but the low point came when we were making payment. Their terminal some how wasn't able to read my credit card after 2 times so I decided to call the bank, the bank personnel told me there was nothing wrong with my card and suggested a few methods for the cashier to resolve the issue. With each method, it was a failed attempt and throughout the process, the cashier and manager was getting annoyed and saying that it really my card issue and made it seem like we can't afford to pay or something! Geez! If it wasn't for the maybank promotion, I would have used other CC and get it over and done with! And finally after another few minutes, ta-dah the transaction went through, and found that their terminal had some issue so couldn't read the card well -.- And the cashier gave an embarrassed sorry after.. but it still left us feeling blue when we left the restaurant...

Celebrated My 28th Birthday @ Sufood

This year, I celebrated my birthday the vegetarian way :D

In the past year, my dad have been enthusiastically searching for vegetarian food to try. 

So I'm not surprise when Dad made reservation at Sufood, which serves Italian inspired-vegetarian set meals.

Initially I thought it was going to be only the 4 of us but apparently my parents did invite J along and they wanted to surprise me haha my silly parents. So he came after his work and boy was I super happy! :D

 

Since mum and sis aren't big eaters, we decided to order 4 sets to share. Each set costs S$25++ per person for a 8-course meal! Super affordable right!

 

 Course 1 & 2: Sufood Appetizer and Vinegar Drink

The appetizer consists of japanese yuca root drizzled with blueberry sauce, some green onion thingy (not that sure) and a cherry tomato encased in jelly. 

 

Have a drink of the vinegar drink before starting on the next course- palate cleanser.

 

Course 3:  Starter

Rosemary breadsticks which comes with a choice of blueberry dip or mustard dip. The bread was very aromatic and I love the mustard dip :)

 

Course 4: Salads

We selected the following to try:

* Tropical Fruit Salad which came with strawberry yogurt sauce

* Summer Salad (veggie sticks with fruits) served with thousand island sauce and sesame dressing
* Mushroom Salad with vinegar dressing
* Classic Garden Salad with sesame dressing

 

 

Course 5: Soups

Clockwise direction:

* Cream of Pumpkin

* Mushroom and Pea Pottage

* Root Soup

* Cabbage and Sweet Potato Soup

 

All the soups were very flavourful, really tasted as though it was cooked with chicken or pork, very amazedddd with their culinary skills!

 

Course 6: Mains

* Macaroni Alfredo Casserole:

Baked macaroni with broccoli, tomatoes and mushrooms with alfredo sauce and parmesan cheese! A comfort food suitable for rainy seasons!

* Wild Mushroom Charcoal Tagliatelle:

My favourite mains of all! The king oyster mushroom tasted so good, resembling the texture of squid. Together with the chewy fragrant charcoal tagliatelle, O-M-G. That's what I call a matchmake in heaven ♥♥♥

* Homemade Vegetable Calazone:

Mushrooms, artichoke and broccoli cooked in pesto sauced encased in a thin crispy layer of pizza dough. Yums!!

* Star Pizza:

Toppings include oyster mushrooms (the texture was very similar to that of chicken!), cream cheese and seaweeds. Drizzled with mustard sauce.

We were super bloated by the end of the main couse hahaha.

 

Course 7 & 8: Desserts and Drinks

For Dessert we chose:

* Osmathus flower jelly

* Sesame panna cotta

* Vanilla ice cream with hot chocolate

* Banana cheesecake

 

And drinks we chose:

* The ashitaba

* Passion fruit calamansi tea

* Hot mint herbal tea

* Very berry

When I thought dinner was over, the restaurant staff surprised me with a complimentary banana cheesecake and a cute and funny birthday song! And..... J also surprised me with a cheesecake from Cedele in one of my favourite flavour- salted caramel! Super yums!

My tummy was so huge after dinner hahaha. Despite the cold rainy day, I felt super warm and fuzzy inside because I know I have such loving family and a future-husband. XOXO!

Happy Birthday, Mummy!

Brought the whole family out for dinner to celebrate Mummy's birthday. Dad felt like having vegetarian so we decided to try Classic Lao Di Fang Vegetarian Restaurant, located in Park Mall.

You have a choice of buffet or ala-carte style, we decided on ala-carte as we weren't that hungry:

• Special mushroom soup  (S$13.80)
• Mango prawn roll            (S$16.80)
• French Bean                    (S$9.80)
• Stir fried sambal fish       (S$18.80)
• Chrysanthemum tea x 4   (S$8)
• Rice x 4                            (S$6)

Total: S$81.85 after service charge (No GST)

Verdict: 

• Soup was good and filled with lots of mushrooms and had a nice herbal taste to it
• The sambal fish was awesome, the sambal was aromatic, adequate spiciness and the texture of the "fish" was convincingly real, a MUST-TRY! But you have to eat it while it's hot or else it won't be that shiok
• You can't go wrong with french beans
• As for the mango-prawn, texture was very prawn-like, A pretty decent dish :) 
• Chrysanthemum tea was super diluted and expensive, should have ordered the organic juice instead
• Overall the portion is just right for 4 pax 
• Service was prompt and the restaurant was really clean

J's Birthday Celebration

Happy 30th Birthday, baby! It was his last single-hood birthday and yet he was spending a boring day with me instead of his friends haha he's getting old.. 

I brought him to try Kiseki at Orchard Central, it was only about $24 per pax for lunch, very reasonable for the food spread. The sashimi were really fresh and the mussels in butter sauce were super awesome with the buttery croissant. I think I ate 4 croissants, haha luckily I didn't get into a butter coma! And I came across this special wasabi ice cream, it was super interesting and refreshing! We really enjoyed the food :) 

After lunch, we walk around for abit before catching a late afternoon movie and dinner at Wild Honey. We waited for about half an hour which wasn't that bad :) It was my first @ Wild Honey and the food portions were huge!! Despite my huge appetite, I had a hard time finishing my food haha. 

We ordered the Portobello Road (S$24), Mexican buritto (S$19) and 2 drinks- Wild Iced Tea (S$7) and Iced Natures Remedy (S$8). The mexican buritto was delicious and terribly spicy haha. Total bill came up to S$66.75. Totally love the ambience, very cozy, suitable place to chill after work :D
